Facebook’s Internet.org Coming to Nigeria: Free Internet?
Sometimes you just get tired or disappointed when lawsuits are thrown around like change of clothing in the tech world. The latest being the one that hit the news stands today between Yahoo and Facebook.
One can’t say that Facebook has exactly been innovative in certain areas it has dived into recently (and it has dived into quite a few) including areas where Yahoo is suing them over.
According to AllThingsD, the lawsuit claims ““Facebook’s entire social network model, which allows users to create profiles for and connect with, among other things, persons and businesses, is based on Yahoo’s patented social networking technology,” Yahoo’s lawsuit reads, in part.
That includes, Yahoo alleges, Facebook’s popular News Feed, advertising methods, privacy settings and more. The company adds that Facebook has been “free riding” on Yahoo’s intellectual property and that royalty payments alone will not suffice.”
This suit is coming in the wake of Facebook’s interest to go public and Yahoo’s continuous decline as an online powerhouse. What they stand to benefit and loose respectively is an open secret but we’ll have to wait for the San Jose, Calif., federal court to decide.
There’s more in the AllThingsD website, so you can hit the source for more info.
